Richard Wheeldon opened his chemist shop on Burton Road selling "Spectacles to suit all sights" in 1896. Thirty years later his son Harley opened Wheeldon Opticians on Palatine Road, West Didsbury. Expansion followed and two generations later the business operates from 3 sites run by one of the great grandsons.
