EYE EXAMINATION
An eye examination is carried out by an optometrist and usually takes about 30 minutes (but may take longer if further tests are required). The retinal photography we offer is strongly recommended and greatly assists with the examination.
OTHER SERVICES:
At Wheeldon Opticians, we are also able to offer diabetic screening (at Cheadle and Didsbury only), cataract referrals, glaucoma refinement, consultant referrals. We are also accredited to carry out DVLA Field Screening.
DIABETIC CARE
Wheeldon Opticians are registered with the local Primary Care Trusts (PCT) to carry out diabetic screening (at Cheadle and Didsbury only). We link and upload to the NHS database and the results are 2nd graded and further investigated. This enables the NHS to access the images when necessary (with patient consent).
BUPA
We are currently applying for recognition of our services by BUPA to allow for a more streamlined and easier process, further developing our working relationship with the Ophthalmic Consultants and Surgeons in the area.
RETINAL PHOTOGRAPHY
All Wheeldon Optician practices benefit from the latest technology in eye screening in the form of retinal cameras. There is an additional fee for this service. Diabetic patients qualify for a NHS funded photograph.
The benefit of these images is that we can see the relevant information
with a greater degree of magnification and that the images may be
stored for future reference and comparison.
